Coul House.....

is a category A listed building, meaning that it is historically significant architecturally. Looking at any of the public room ceilings you will see why: with ornate plasterwork, fine craftsmanship and unique layout, the house is truly magnificent. 

During 2007-2008 all of the public rooms were sympathetically refurbished recreating a more Georgian feel. We reinstated some of the original features of the house including a beautiful fireplace in the regency lounge. We had 520 square meters of custom made Brinton carpet laid and three sets of stunning curtains from local company Inside story.

Front Hall
Each of the public rooms can be viewed from the large front hall giving a sense of openness and now, with the re-instated grand entrance to the octagonal room, you get command views of the Strathconon mountains as you enter the house.

Octagonal Room
This is the grandest room of the house. We typically use it as our main dining room, however, it is very versatile being used for wedding ceremonies, conferences and even art class and looks great whether it is set up for twenty or seventy. It has an 18-foot high ornate ceiling, large black marble fireplace and three floor-to-ceiling windows. Often in the evening you’ll see beautiful sunsets or by day you may catch site of either a Pine Marten or Red Kite.

Regency Room 
This is our drawing room and is a perfect place to up and read a book or play a game of chess with your loved one. This room is also very versatile and can be used for private dinners on special occasions.

Lounge Bar
No country house hotel would be complete without a comfortable lounge bar with a roaring fire and ample supply of whisky and wine. This is where Chris and his team excel with their knowledge of whisky and wines being able to advise you through our selection... a great place to relax before or after dinner.
